SPJ LA Pro Chapter Board Meeting, March 3
Professor Linda Bowen and I attended the SPJ LA board meeting on Monday in Los Angeles. Aside from a number of administrative issues the board discussed the proposal to create a database of complaints from the journalists who have encounter problems in working with the police.
Anonymous blog postings and comments on the newspaper websites were also addressed by the board as an ethical issue. Should the readers be allowed to post anonymously or should the papers require the posters to provide real names and contact information for the verification purposes? The members have agreed to formulate a policy for their own blog before the next meeting.
The board is scheduled to convene again in April.
